Grade 43 basically means it's a high test hook that's designed for towing, pulling, and dragging. It is not designed for overhead lifting. The hook is designed so the chain will catch in it, not slide through it. The 3/8-inch hook has a working load limit of 5400 pounds.
It has a plain finish to it.To give you some overall measurements of it: Overall width, the widest point, only about 2 1/2 inches. The overall heighth at the wides point is about 3 inches, and the thickness on it is right at 3/4 of an inch.
